Heart melted…

September and October are my busiest months, but I couldn’t help but take a quick break while processing and share this sweet picture. This is what happens when you give a toddler some candy and have brother snuggle up to her! Magic of course!

Utah Lifestyle newborn photography shoot…so much love

This shoot warmed my heart. I could have photographed this sweet family all day. Their ginger, little newborn…so precious. I could not be happier for Christa and Jake in this new phase of life. I met them years ago soon after I received their wedding email inquiry. It started with their engagements and I’ve been so blessed to record many of their milestone events for them over the years.

Lifestyle newborn shoots are some of my favorite shoots. I love recording newborns soon after they are born, interacting and still getting to know their sweet families and their new home. How can you not love this? In this session, it was pretty cool to watch Christa admire Jake with their little guy and vice versa. I think sometimes in the early days with baby at home it just will all the sudden hit you, that you’re a mom or dad or that you have two kids or three kids. You can help but get emotional. There’s a lot of raw emotion in these lifestyle newborn shoots, and I love to look for these moments and photograph them.

Fall Mini Sessions

It’s that time again for Fall Mini Sessions! For some of you, you here that and cringe, just a little. Let’s be honest, sometimes family pictures can cause a tad bit of stress. You have to figure out what everyone should wear–shall we go with patterns, neutrals, colors or a little bit of everything this year? Is everyone going to cooperate? Will their be crying, whining, snot, kids getting their new clothes dirty before arriving at the shoot. Will we make it on time? Will there be so much chaos beforehand that no one will even want to be in the same picture together? Will the photographer make mom and dad kiss when we just got in a little fight because one of the parents opted for grape juice for junior on the way to the shoot?

Well, I’m in this club now and I have a difficult child, but I have never regretted a single shoot I’ve done with my kids and my family. After I see the pictures, I am so happy I froze that moment in time because I can’t believe how quickly my little guys are changing. We make the most of the shoots and just have fun!

Here’s the info for Fall Mini Sessions for this year. People have been booking earlier this year and I’ve got just a few left.

Sessions will be on October 10th. I’ll be shooting up Trappers Loop (on the way to Snowbasin). For the morning people I’ve got 8:30 or 9:15 left. In the PM I’ve got 5:45 open. They’re $225 for 50 touched up files that you download from my proofing site. Let me know if you want a spot! It’s a gorgeous time of year in Utah to capture your family and I will make them fun and relaxed!

Here’s fall family photography from last year! Young families like this one are pretty fun to photograph and it’s a work out all in one! Love it!

Brooke: Salt Lake City, Utah–Urban Senior Photo Shoot

I am really late with posting this shoot, well most of my shoots. These days I spend the majority of my work time shooting, processing pictures, scouting locations, designing guest sign-in books and creating wedding albums. This doesn’t leave much time for posting fun, city shoots like Brooke’s senior pictures. I shot her sister’s senior pictures a few years back and I was excited when her mom contacted me to take Brooke’s as well.

I had so much fun with this shoot, with Brooke and her mom. Brooke wanted more of a city or an urban look for her senior pictures so we headed downtown Salt Lake. There’s such a variety of textures and colors all around the city. Salt Lake makes the perfect backdrop for a spunky, talented senior’s pictures. Brooke is also a very talented dancer and she wanted a picture with her point ballet shoes, with the city in the back.

Check out the last picture…we were in the middle of the shoot and Brooke had some fans that wanted to have their picture taken with her. She obliged! The city brings out all sorts… Thanks Brooke for a fun senior shoot downtown. I love shooting senior pictures all over Utah. I’ll post more of my awesome seniors…
