Pete & Kendra: Sundance Resort, Utah Wedding Photographer

Pete & Kendra’s wedding….so many details, so many moments, so much fun. Pete and Kendra wanted to have an old Hollywood theme to their wedding and what better venue than Sundance? Their wedding planner, Ashley with Attention 2 Detail Events, did an amazing job at creating the wedding of their dreams. From the director chairs, the vintage cameras, the colorful flowers, popcorn and candy favors…pretty cool!

The day started with Pete and Kendra getting ready in separate cottages up at Sundance. Kendra had her hair and makeup done while her bridesmaid’s got ready and watched Kendra get glamourous. Pete had his cottage all to himself and he relaxed until ceremony time drew nearer. I sprinted over to him to record a few of his getting ready shots. The cottages at Sundance, not too shabby and right outside the door is gorgeous, beautiful nature! I took Pete outside for some quick pictures and then it was time for the ceremony.

The Sundance ceremony was held under a white tent with green trees surrounding it. I loved recording Pete’s expression of Kendra walking towards him down the aisle. It was pretty cute when Kendra would look over at him during the ceremony, revealing her dimples. Beautiful ceremony!

The reception was just beautiful and the rest of the night was filled with dancing and fun, as you can see from the pictures. The band was amazing at keeping everyone entertained until it was time to head off to the cottages from some shut eye. What a day and what a wedding!

I’ll get a complete list of vendors soon

Guy & Jacque: Utah Destination Wedding Photographer

I was so happy when Guy contacted to express interest in having me shoot his Utah destination Wedding. Guy and Jacque are from back east, but they spend a lot of time vacationing in Park City during the winters. When it came time for the long-time loves to decide on a place to get married, Utah quickly rose to the top of their list.

They brought in their close friends and family and did things their way, from Jacque’s non-traditional, casual wedding gown to Guy’s royal blue suit. They rented a house in Park City, where they had a pretty relaxed wedding morning, getting all put together for their ceremony. The ceremony was held at Snowbird. Wow, talk about scenic!

After the ceremony they welcomed their friends and family back to the house they were staying at and treated them to a dinner they had a chef and crew create for them. I love small, intimate weddings where couples don’t play by the “rules” and do things their own way.

Kim and Chris’ Salt Lake Temple Wedding & Joseph Smith Memorial Building Wedding Reception, Utah Wedding Photographer

Have I mentioned I love photographing getting ready shots? I’m pretty sure I have. I love documenting the fun details that come along with the getting ready moments and all the raw emotion that takes place right before a wedding ceremony. Some LDS brides think they’re wedding coverage starts after their ceremony, but that leaves out the beautiful story that happens before. Kim had me come to her mother’s house as she had her hair and make up done. Right before their ceremony I helped them coordinate a first look shot to capture the couple seeing each other all dressed up and ready to get married. These first moments usually happen in the temple but for obvious reasons, I’m not able to photograph them. I love helping the couple preserve these memories and then have them walk hand-in-hand and head for the temple doors to be sealed for time and all eternity. They had a beautiful reception at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building and lots of dancing!!! What a beautiful night!

Zion’s National Park wedding….a photographer’s dream, Utah Zion’s National Park Wedding Photographer

Utah is so full of beautiful places and one of those amazing places to photograph is Zion’s National Park. When I received a wedding inquiry for a Zion’s wedding, and when I learned more of what the couple had in mind, I was absolutely thrilled. The icing on the cake was meeting the couple. They were awesome and very much in love. They put so much time and attention into planning every detail, so they would have a wedding that captured not only themselves, but a wedding that also showed their close friends and family how much they meant to them. Their wedding guest were well taken care of and I think they knew how much they meant to the couple.

It was a multiple day celebration and one that I will not soon forget. I promised the couple I wouldn’t share the details or pictures from their wedding (except for a few landscape shots below,) but the highlights were their emotional first look–with a stream babbling in the background, the bride being so calm and ready for the amazing ceremony awaiting and of course the ceremony itself, with the red rocks as the canvas. I definitely am ready to photograph their vow renewals….hint, hint : )

If you are thinking of planning a destination wedding, like Zion’s National Park, it can be a little tedious, but it’s worth the work. If a certain location has been part of your dating or engagement it makes sense to have a destination wedding, like Zions. Most Utah wedding photographer’s will travel or actually most Utah wedding professional’s will travel. I say, just do it and I’d be happy to come along…
