I’m Brandee Michaelson, the photographer behind Philosophy Photography. I grew up in Murray, Utah but I have lived in Davis County for the last eight years. I love living in an area where I get to see farmers on tractors, plowing their fields or driving on the roads, well unless I’m in a hurry. : ) I often have my Salt Lake couples come up here for shoots. It’s beautiful up here!
I am married to my sweetheart Christian, who you just might meet at one of the shoots. While we were dating, we wanted to spend more time together so he learned the ins and outs of being an assistant and started helping at all my shoots. He excelled and my clients loved him. He was naturally promoted to head lighting assistant, but he’ll keep his day job as a civil engineer.
Here are pictures of me and my sweetie….

Then when I thought I couldn’t possibly love anyone more, our little stinkpot, Beckett arrived. On Valentine’s Day of 2013, our hearts grew and I became a mother. We are so blessed.
Here’s my “little” Gus, Gus.
So how did I get into photography???
I can’t say I was born with a camera in my hand. I discovered photography in 2000 on a humanitarian trip to Kenya. I didn’t know my little, Pentax camera would bring me so much peace and excitement as I captured the untold stories of a few villages. A passion I never knew I had, came to life. When I returned home I decided I was going back to college, even though I already had my degree and I was working full-time in a successful career. Two years later, I started my photography business and the rest is history…
